Want to submit a game idea?
Thanks for thinking of SAVANA to share your game! If you have a project youād like to submit ā ideally one thatās already been well playtested ā hereās how to get started:
š© Send us the rules and a short video (3 to 5 minutes max) at submissions@savana-games.com
Please do not use our contact form - your submission might not be reviewed if sent that way.
š„ In the video, no need to go into every detail. Weāre mainly interested in the core of the game: how it plays, what makes it unique, and what grabs players in the first few minutes. Bluffing? Cooperation? A clever little twist? Let us know what gives your game its spark.
š² At SAVANA, we design smart, accessible, family-friendly games ā the kind that bring people together and create memorable moments around the table. Weāre looking for simple, effective mechanics that spark laughter, conversation, and unforgettable experiences. If your game can win over beginners while offering a rich and joyful gameplay experience, youāre already on the right track.
ā³ Thanks for your patience! We receive many submissions, but if your game fits our universe, weāll be happy to get in touch and take the next step with you.
Our Tips for a Successful Prototype Submission
Depending on the time of year, we receive a large number of game submissions. Our goal is to review every one of them and respond to each designer who takes the time to share their work with us. That said, weāre not able to spend an hour on every project, and we unfortunately canāt read through all the full rulebooks we receive.
What matters most to us is the overall concept of your game, not every detail of the rules. Thatās why a 3-to-5-minute video explaining the key mechanics and core idea is the best way to present your project. It helps us quickly understand whether your game fits what weāre looking for.
No need for a polished or professional video, just keep it clear and to the point, and highlight what makes your game stand out. If the concept catches our eye, weāll be happy to dive deeper into the rules and test the prototype.
Submissions without a video are much less likely to be considered, even if the game is strong.
Festivals are the perfect opportunity to connect with us in person. There are two main events each year where we focus specifically on reviewing prototypes: the Cannes International Games Festival (FIJ) in February, and the professional festival in Vichy in September.
During these events, we dedicate our time to meeting designers and playtesting their prototypes.
These in-person meetings are essential, they allow us to get to know the designer and, more importantly, to truly experience the game. Reading the rules is one thing, but a game is all about the feeling it creates, and only a live play session can really bring that to life. We do not review games via Tabletop Simulator or other online platforms, as they often distort the actual gameplay experience.
However, meeting slots are limited. We receive a large number of submissions and unfortunately cannot meet with everyone. Thatās why a video is essential: it gives us a first impression and helps us decide whether a meeting would be relevant.
We strongly recommend sending your submission as early as possible ā slots tend to fill up several weeks in advance. In fact, we usually begin receiving proposals two months before each event.
We receive many submissions each year, but we carefully select only one or two games annually. This limited choice reflects our commitment to supporting each creation over the long term.
For us, publishing a game isnāt just about bringing it to market, itās about building a strong and lasting launch, both in stores and online, to ensure the game doesnāt fade away just weeks after release. Thatās why each selection is the result of deep consideration, both of the gameās potential and of our ability to stand behind it for the long run.
We kindly ask that each designer submit only one game at a time. When several prototypes are sent together, it often gives the impression of ideas still in development, not quite ready. Thatās not what weāre looking for. We much prefer a single, well-thought-out, tested, and refined game over a batch of unfinished concepts.
We also pay close attention to originality. Weāre looking for games that bring something new, not just another twist on whatās already out there. A strong theme, a fresh mechanic, or a standout idea will always have a better chance of catching our eye.
To ensure a fair and thorough review, we consider one submission per designer, in the order received. If multiple games are submitted at once, only the first one will be reviewed.
Thank you for your understanding, and for trusting us with the best of your work.
